PADRE Foundation
Serving Children, Teens and their Families
PADRE stands for the Pediatric-Adolescent Diabetes Research Education Foundation. PADRE Foundation was started 20 years ago by a father of a newly diagnosed 5 year old girl, who was searching for resources and information regarding Type 1 diabetes. For the past 25 years, the PADRE Foundation has been dedicated to helping children from birth to age 21 understand and manage their Type 1 Diabetes. PADRE Foundation serves more than 2,500 families of all backgrounds in Southern California while partnering with these leading hospitals: CHOC Children's, CHOC at Mission Hospital, Hoag Memorial Hospital, and Kaiser Permanente.
DealGooder's Goal of the Week: Help us raise $500 by the end of the week so PADRE Foundation can help more families with Type 1 diabetes. Let's make it happen!!
Why DealGooder HEARTS PADRE Foundation
PADRE Foundation provides education, support groups, family retreats, and camps designed to help parents cope and help each child reach a new level of confidence, acceptance and self esteem while managing their disease. Their monthly educational and support classes include caregiver classes, carbohydrate counting classes, shot classes and insulin pump classes, to name a few. Some of their special events are the Harvest Carnival, Surfing with Diabetes, Annual Holiday parties and a trip to Universal Studios. Today, PADRE has two locations: CHOC Children's in Orange County and the Mary & Dick Allen Diabetes Center at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. Diabetes is a family disease, and the PADRE Foundation is here to help you navigate this uncharted territory.
